The Santa Barbara-based non-profit organization Adventures in Caring is recognized in the UK for pioneering the development of compassion in local and global healthcare.
His new phone company program, Phone-a-Friend, breaks new ground by building friendships across generations. As a result, isolated seniors find smart young friends with whom to share their hard-earned knowledge, and our future doctors and nurses develop the compassionate listening skills they need to build strong therapeutic partnerships with their future patients.
UK-based global news service LiveWire has recognized Adventures in Caring with the Innovation and Excellence Award for Best Community Education for 2022. LiveWire alerts executives to new developments in international markets, healthcare and technology. The award recognizes organizations that take an innovative approach to changing their industry for the better. The judges were "deeply impressed by the Adventures in Caring Foundation's commitment to protecting the emotional well-being of its students and those who care for them."
Dependent families living alone or living in orphanages or qualified nurse practitioners can request Call-Friend service for free through the Adventures in Caring website, www.AdveturesInCaring.org.
Adventures in Caring partners with the City of Santa Barbara Housing Authority (HACSB) to create an intergenerational bridge between UCSD medical students and isolated low-income seniors in nine HACSB facilities. As a result, HACSB won this year's National Housing and Rebuilding Association Excellence Award in the Resident Services category.
