Clarks Originals, Alexanderwang, Timex, And Bentley Crash The Art Basel Miami Beach Party

Art Basel Miami Beach 2022 is rich in art, as every year since 2002. In addition, other markets look to the art world as a catalyst for cultural relations. Brands found their way to the bustling streets of Wynwood and Miami Beach for pop-up store openings, exclusive capsule collections, and NFT discounts.

Collaborations with curators, car manufacturers, original web3 brands, web3 pop-up shops and fashion brands, with NFTs available to everyone, have arrived at the gallery. Traditional art galleries filled with modern art lovers and style seekers can find fashion at more affordable prices.

Clarks Originals celebrates the launch of its first collaboration with Wallabee, "Floor Seats," designed by agency founder Compound and creative director Set Free Richardson. The Art Basel event took place at the UNKNWN retail and event space in Wynwood, where the shoes were the main attraction. Design inspiration is court fashion and basketball in collaboration with Compound. An exclusive pair of “Floor Seats” is available with a carbon neutral NFT direct purchase from BK the Artist at Art Basel Miami only.

"The coworking space is literally filled with [lots of] people doing lots of things. I'm the other way around," Compoun founder Set Free Richardson explains of the Wallabee collaboration. "I kept it super clean [like] cool perforated leather details: a vintage basketball filled with perforated dots on the top and bottom. Seven minimal on top and matte branding on the back. I wanted people to have something that had a "New York vibe. And it came with two [extra] pairs of laces."

He continues: “Brown boots with green laces connect us to the 'meat and broccoli' [Timberland boots] we grew up in, and on the other side is the pink side. I wanted something that people felt like they could flip when it was cold or lightly rainy. And beeswax can protect them from all of that."

Richardson has extensive experience working with brands and people. The feel of the collaboration has a basketball underpinning, leading to the shoe's "floor seating" philosophy. "Before, I had deals with steel companies. I worked on collaborations with [many] people as a 'ghost' collaborator, like ghostwriters in the music industry. I thought everything from Kyrie Irving's dribbles to Steph Curry's shots , it was art. Then you associate it with hip-hop: art, period. Richardson makes art working with him and introduces Wallabee's shiny new release, seen through UNKNWN's showroom window.

Jadakiss also unveiled the shoe during an appearance at the UNKNWN basketball court, adjacent to the retailer's event space. Jadakiss and Set Free Richardson perform the original song "Floor Seats," a song he co-produced with the hip-hop legend.

Fashion label alexanderwang has opened a pop-up store in Miami's Design District, a 3,700-square-foot red carpet that leads to a world of shopping like no other in alexanderwang. Founder Alexander Wang seized the opportunity to launch the space during Art Basel Miami as "playing with concepts that push boundaries in a community known for innovation and artistry."

In the center of the store is a glass nightstand with matching pillowcases and plush bags that reflect various pieces from the existing collection. "I wanted to present a conversation about the clash of cultures in such a vibrant environment and at a time when people from all over the world are coming together to see what happens next."

The pop-up showcases the FW22 collection and Alexander Wang's latest efforts in everyday items, such as the Bodywear Collection, as well as shoes and accessories. The Pop-Up explores the concept of a stage rather than a traditional commercial design, its red-painted exterior with a traditional Chinese hipped and gabled roof over the entrance. With a red carpet covering the floors and red sheer panels lining all the walls, it exudes luxury. The store highlights the special design of the crystal bed.

The Web3, art and fashion communities have come together with the help of Rarity Jahn, founder of Dopamine, curator of Streetwear+, the Web3 label that creates culture and artists. Conceptualized as a progressive, urban fashion experience featuring digital and physical products, the Dopamine pop-up store is an interactive art exhibit.

ASAP Rocky and Trippie Redd's appearance at the WTF IS STREETWEAR+ Dopamine pop-up store in Wynwood was a treat for fans of the Web3 brand. Founder Jan and two rap stars discuss Streetwear+ technology and preview Dopamine's launch collection. The one-day event features physical and digital collaborations from partners including KidSuper, Fvckrender, ThankYouX, Nounwords DAO and Dopamine streetwear items.

Timex watch brand has teamed up with the community of one of the most popular NFT projects, the Bored Ape Yacht Club, to create a collection of ultra rare and unique watches with matching digital watches. NFT twins. Exclusive NFT watches and offers for members of the Bored Ape and Mutant Ape communities.

From watches to luxury cars, as part of the second phase of a special design collaboration between Bentley Motors and Dominic Ciambrone, The Shoe Surgeon unveiled the exclusive Bentley x The Surgeon car at Art Basel Miami Beach. Previously, the November collaboration featured ten custom sneakers, each inspired by a Bentley brand stalwart: Speed, Azure and Mulliner. Mulliner customers and collectors have ordered each pair of shoes as part of their membership.

A shoemaker is an artist who designs custom athletic shoes. Last year, Bentley Motors' customization division Mulliner partnered with Ciambrone to design custom sneakers and an exclusive Art Basel car, Bentley x The Surgeon.

The Surgeon's Bentley Motors Flying Spur Hybrid Mulliner sold for $450,000 as a work of art during the opening ceremony at Art Basel. The car celebrates the values of Bentley and The Surgeon, emphasizing modern luxury, automotive and shoe craftsmanship, and refined taste.

This custom luxury car is inspired by The Surgeon's iconic black and gold shoebox. The exterior of the car features a dual combination of Charcoal Black and Satin Charcoal Black with Satin Bronze accents. The 22-inch wheels reflect the same color scheme, and the doors project the iconic skull and surgeon's scalpel badge stuck into the ground.

Billionaire Boys Club founder Pharrell Williams and graffiti artist Todd James also celebrated the BBC x Todd James capsule collection at the Billionaire Boys Club flagship store in Miami. The flagship Miami retailer opened in the Wynwood Arts District last October, further cementing the Billionaire Boys Club/Ys name in the world of streetwear and arts.

In the evening, special guests leave the gallery to visit Williams and James for an artistic collaboration. Pharrell Williams and Todd James join rapper Fredo Bang, artist Hebru Brantley, and streetwear founder Ben Hundreds, among others, for the exclusive Art Basel Miami Beach 2022 capsule.

Art Basel Miami Beach is seen all over Miami and is drawing new and younger audiences into the art world in a variety of ways. Every pop-up and launch is an audience-engaging experience like any other art form in the city. Coming out of Art Basel Miami Beach, the brand is here to introduce eclectic collaborations as high-end collectibles.
