Daisy Art Parade Set For April 15

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – The Daisy Art Parade invites artists of all ages and skill levels, as well as all art forms, to participate in an art parade on April 15 (UNESCO World Art Day).

This is a free family event.

Here @Home welcomes Daisy Art Parade organizer and Roanoke artist Brian Cunihan to talk about this unique event.

Cunihan was the former director of the Marginal Arts Festival (2008-2014) and received the Artist of the Year Award (YOTA) from the Roanoke City Arts Commission "for the role of creativity in solving community problems and for using the discovery of craft." The parade departs from the MLK statue in Historic Gainsborough at noon and continues down Campbell Avenue with a final stop behind the Taubman Museum (John Nolen Plaza). The route is five to six blocks long and includes crossing the MLK Bridge.

Raffle tickets and prizes will be awarded to attendees who pre-register at daisyartparade.com immediately following the show in the Art Venture Museum's Taubman Room.

Participants can gather on Henry Street from 8am. Cultural programming will be provided by CommunityARTS Reach at the Lincoln Institute of Theater and Culinary Arts. Parade Day will conclude at 2:00 PM at the Art Venture Taubman Museum, following a joke and puppet show by the Iowa Goat Singer. Roanoke celebrity Kianna Price Marshall will review the parade on First Street.

The 2022-2023 Artists of the Year Project in Roanoke is funded by a grant from the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) and the National Arts Projects Grant, with additional funding from the city. Roanoke.
