Lubbock, Texas (KCBD) – The holiday season is upon us, and for many, every holiday brings stress and anxiety. Zach Shealy, fitness instructor at Rockbox, shares two tips to help you feel better mentally and physically this holiday season.
While Shiley says there are more complex studies, each movement is therapeutic. "It will help boost your immune system and keep you sane during this crazy time," Shealy said.
Thanksgiving is something many of us do every year; We eat a lot, but how do you deal with that bloated feeling after a day of eating turkey?
"If the weather in Lubbock cooperates, the best thing for me is to go for a walk after dinner. Wait maybe five or 10 minutes and then go for a good walk," Shealy said.
Another reason many go to the gym on vacation is to decompress. With gift shopping and family outings, the holidays can be overwhelming for many. Zack says the best way to deal with it is cardio.
"Cardio can be a great way to get rid of some stressors. One of my favorite things to do during the holidays is to de-stress as much as possible," says Shealy.
Some simple cardio exercises that Zach recommends include jogging, cycling, or boxing. The most important tip, however, is to eat sensibly before the holidays.
"By limiting large meals, I spread those calories closer to Thanksgiving so I can eat less and eat a little closer to the holiday season," Shealy said.
