MBACC Educational Foundation Accepting Applications For Scholarships

MYRTLE BEACH – The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (MBACC) is accepting applications for college scholarships from Grand Strand high school students.

Each year, the foundation awards scholarships to graduates of 14 local high schools. Selected students consistently deliver excellent results in and out of the classroom. The amount of the scholarship is determined by the board of trustees of the educational fund and is paid directly to the recipient of the scholarship to compensate for the expenses of the first year of study related to higher education.

“As part of our mission to promote, protect, and improve the Myrtle Beach area, the Chamber is pleased to award scholarships to students who demonstrate the qualities necessary for professional success, such as integrity, integrity, citizenship, and a strong work ethic. We understand that higher education is our critical component to the continued success of the community,” said MBACC President and CEO Karen Riordan.

Completed applications must be sent to the school counselor by Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply:

  • Must be a legal US resident
  • Must be an honors student at the selected high school (see list below).
  • Must graduate from high school during the award academic year.
  • Must intend to attend an accredited college upon graduation from high school. These include universities, colleges, seminaries, technical schools and colleges.
  • Must plan to enter a post-secondary program with a bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent.

Scholarships are awarded to graduates of the following schools:

  • Carolina Forest Academy of Arts, Sciences and Technology
  • Technological and Academic Academy in Conway
  • Ainor High School
  • Carolina Forest High School
  • Conway Middle School
  • First Conway College High School
  • Green Sea Floyd High School
  • HCS Scholars Academy in Conway
  • Lori High School
  • Myrtle Beach High School
  • North Myrtle Beach High School
  • Socastee High School
  • St. James High School in Burgess
  • Waccamau High School on Paoli Island

Originally established as a public charity in 2007, the MBACC Educational Foundation became a private foundation in 2015. MBACC employees, members of their immediate families, and members of the Fund's Grants Task Force and Board of Trustees are not eligible for this grant.
