WASHINGTON , Nov. 9, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — This week, the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF) will provide five days of training for 18 active duty military personnel at the Culinary Institute of America in New York City. The NRAEF military program focuses on training military personnel in culinary arts and restaurant management. conducting exercises to support the combat readiness of armed forces; careers of military personnel and their family members during transition to civilian life; and annually recognizes the best in food service operations with the Military Food Service Awards. Current initiatives include:
Exercise program. Military training programs are designed to help military personnel enter the restaurant and food service industries and reduce unemployment among veterans. These include ACTP training from the Culinary Institute of America and the annual Military Management Excellence Program at the National Restaurant Show.
Skill bridge. In partnership with the Department of Defense, the SkillBridge program connects service members with vocational training, internships or internships within the last 180 days of service.
Practice. The NRAEF Restaurant Management Internship Program provides on-the-job training under the Veterans Apprenticeship Reform and Employment Improvement Act (VALOR). Veterans who participate in the NRAEF Restaurant Management Internship Program can take advantage of post-September 11 GI Bill benefits during enrollment.
Scholarships and grants. In partnership with Hormel Foods, NRAEF awards scholarships annually to individuals with military experience pursuing a career in a culinary arts or food service management program. Learn more about this year's Hormel Heroes Scholars.
