Patiala: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday termed the financial arrears of educational institutions as a social disaster and said they will not face a lack of funds to ensure that no child in the state is deprived of access to quality education.
Speaking at the 62nd Foundation Day of Punjab University, Mann said that the primary responsibility of the government is to provide educational opportunities and we are very proud and happy that his government is doing it effectively.
According to an official statement, Mann said that the government under his leadership is constantly striving to improve the standard of education by providing maximum support to educational institutions.
"This university is the pride of Punjab and the local Punjabi language. This premier educational institution is also called the "Heart of Malwa". I have assured loan cancellation to restore the glory and original glory of this university," he said.
Mann also said that in this year's budget, the state government has allocated a monthly allowance of Rs 30 million to the university. "I hope this university will overcome financial difficulties and achieve great success in higher education."
The Chief Minister said that Punjab University is playing a leading role for the youth of the state. "This university has inspired me to new ways of life and new ideas. This university has unleashed my creativity and the stage of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Hall has made my dreams come true," he said.
Mann also said that the state government is making great efforts to promote and spread the Punjabi language.
