The Clark Art Institute Will Offer Free Admission Through March


The Clark Art Institute is offering free admission from January to March 2023.

WILLIAMSTOWN – If visiting the Clark Institute of Art is on your bucket list, now is the time.

The Clark Art Institute is offering free admission to all visitors from January to March 2023.

The Three Free program is part of an ongoing approach to promoting what the art museum has to offer and welcoming new visitors.

"There is no better way to start the new year than to ensure our doors are open to our community and to all visitors to the region," said Olivier Mesl, Clarke's director. "We believe that the opportunity to participate in the arts is a truly fulfilling and rewarding part of life, and we want to ensure everyone has many opportunities to visit Clark and get to know each other better."

In 2022, Clark offered free admission in January and during that time there were more than 6,700 visitors, more than 50% of the usual January attendance.

"With the strong support and commitment of our Board of Directors, we are extending the free entry program by three months this year and look forward to making it a tradition for years to come," Mesley said in a statement. "We look forward to meeting many new visitors and welcoming back members of our community."

During the free-admission season, visitors have the opportunity to visit the Clarke's outstanding permanent collection and see three new exhibitions: Walks on Paper: 18th Century French Drawings from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (open until 12 March 2023); On the Horizon: Art and Atmosphere in the 19th Century (runs until February 12, 2023); and Portal: The Spectacular Architecture of Paul Goesch (opening March 13, 2023). And on February 11th Clarke will open with Elizabeth Atterbury her latest presentation of contemporary public art: Oracle Bones.

Clark offers a wide range of free public programs, concerts and other events. Details of the January-March 2023 schedule are available at clarkart.edu/events.

Clark is located at 225 South St. in Williamstown. The galleries are open Tuesday to Sunday from September to June and every day in July and August from 10am to 5pm. For this program and more information, visit clarkart.edu or call 413-458-2303. The use of masks is optional for all visitors.
